Hello, I’m Chino Yoshio, a composer quietly working in Kyotanabe, just outside of Kyoto.
I’m happy to share that my track The Message to the Ninja was recently featured in the Pure Focus playlist on Apple Music.
The idea for this piece came from something a former colleague once told me—that our boss might be a descendant of a ninja. I found the image oddly charming, wrote it down in my idea journal, and finally turned it into a track this year.
The violin and viola were performed by MIZ, a wonderful musician who has also played in GACKT’s live performances. Since it had been a long time since our last collaboration—and this one being a "ninja-themed" track—I wasn’t sure if she would accept the offer, but to my relief, she did, and delivered beautiful recordings.
In a previous note, I wrote about the “Giant Syndrome” I’ve experienced—where collaborations stall because someone else holds the release. One of those unfinished pieces involved MIZ’s performance, and it has stayed with me as a regret.
This track is, in a way, a reimagining of that unreleased work, using a new melody and harmonic structure. For such an experimental piece to be selected for a curated playlist feels like a meaningful step forward in my creative journey.

My “Ninja” Track Was Featured in a Playlist – The Message to the Ninja
忍者の曲がプレイリストに載りました – The Message to the Ninja

今回は、私の楽曲 "The Message to the Ninja" が Apple Music のプレイリスト「ピュアフォーカス」に掲載されたことをご報告させていただきます。
この曲は、以前の職場の先輩から「上司が忍者の末裔らしい」と聞かされたことがきっかけで、思わずツボにハマってしまい、ネタ帳に記録していたアイデアから生まれました。そして、ようやく今年になって形にできた曲です。
バイオリンとビオラは、GACKTさんのライブ公演でも演奏されているMIZさんにお願いしました。 かなり久しぶりの依頼で、しかも「忍者の曲」だったので、正直演奏していただけるか不安もありましたが、無事に音源データが届いたときは本当に嬉しかったです。
実のところ、以前のnoteで「コラボ案件がリリースされず、ジャイアン構図に陥ることがある」と書いたことがありますが、MIZさんに演奏していただいたにもかかわらず、他のコラボレーターの都合でリリースできなかった作品があることも、ずっと心に引っかかっていました。
今回の曲は、そうしたリリースできなかった作品を別視点から見直し、新しいメロディとコード進行で再構築したものです。 このような実験的な作品が、Apple Musicのプレイリストに掲載されたことは、私にとって大きな一歩だと感じています。
現在は、次の楽譜も準備中で、MIZさんにご報告できるタイミングを楽しみにしています。
