Additional Purchase of EarPods

Hello, this is Chino Yoshio, a composer based in Kyotanabe, Kyoto. I’d like to note that I recently purchased an additional pair of Apple EarPods (3.5 mm headphone plug) to keep as a backup.

Ideal for Mix and Mastering Checks My main headphones are beyerdynamic DT250, but

I also use EarPods as a secondary reference. EarPods emphasize the high frequencies more clearly, which makes it easier to notice issues such as excessive brightness or harshness compared to the DT250.

A Listening Environment Close to Real Users Since many listeners still use EarPods or similar earbuds, checking a mix through them provides a realistic perspective on how the final track will be heard in everyday environments.

Checking Mixes with Train Noise

When I’m on a train, I often notice things like • certain sounds being too prominent, • imbalance in panning, especially under ambient noise.

Because of that, I purchased train ambience recordings from a sound effects site and lightly layer them into my mix projects to simulate that environment. I monitor these checks using EarPods as well.

By incorporating this workflow, I’ve been able to shorten my overall mixing and mastering time.

ふだんのメインのヘッドフォンは beyerdynamic DT250 ですが、サブとしてEarPodsを併用しています。 EarPodsは高音域がはっきり聴こえるため、高音の出し過ぎや耳に刺さる帯域の確認がDT250よりもしやすい場面があります。

多くのリスナー環境に近いチェック方法として

EarPodsを使っている人は今でも多く、 「実際にリスナーが聴く環境としてどう聞こえるか」を確認するには最適だと感じています。

電車内での確認と効果音の活用

電車に乗っているとき、 ・特定の音だけ目立つ ・パンのバランスが崩れる などの “環境ノイズ下での違和感” に気づくことがあります。

そのため、電車の走行音を効果音販売サイトで購入し、 ミックス用プロジェクトに薄くインポートしてチェックするようにしています。 この作業でもEarPodsが役に立っています。

こうした確認方法を取り入れてから、ミックスとマスタリングにかかる時間が以前より短縮できるようになりました。
