Background of “Waiting Quietly for the Bloom”

Hello, I’m Chino Yoshio, a composer quietly creating music in Kyotanabe, Kyoto.

In this post, I would like to write about the background of my EP “Waiting Quietly for the Bloom,” scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.

Decaying Ambient Music

For this work, I created what I might call “decaying ambient music.”

The EP is built around sounds that naturally decay, such as piano and marimba, extended through long reverberation so that each note fades slowly into space.

Many ambient works are based on repeated short phrases or loops, but for this EP, I did not use that kind of loop-based approach.
Instead, I performed each note one by one on an electronic piano, focusing on how each sound begins, resonates, and gradually disappears.

Four Versions

This EP includes four versions of the same composition:

Sine Wave Version
Marimba Version
Soft Synth Bells Version
Vintage Piano Version

By using different sound sources—sine wave, marimba, soft synth bells, and piano—I wanted each version to create a slightly different sense of texture, space, and time, even though the underlying composition remains the same.

About the Title

The title “Waiting Quietly for the Bloom” reflects the idea that sometimes it is necessary simply to wait.

Rather than trying to force something to bloom quickly, there are times when we can only wait quietly.
I wanted to connect that feeling with the music.

About the Artwork

The artwork is based on a BIM model that I previously used for my work “Sono Uchi Ii Koto Aru Yo.”

For this release, I applied a material with the color code “C193B3” to the wall of the BIM model and created a close-up image of that wall.
The number “193” is quietly hidden inside the color code.

Bandcamp Pricing

The price on Bandcamp is set at 193 yen.

This is a wordplay based on “Ikkyu-san” in Japanese, but I also feel that 193 yen is a balanced price: not too expensive, and not too cheap.
For me, it feels like the right amount for someone who wants to support my music at a comfortable distance.

Vinyl Release on ElasticStage

I am also preparing a vinyl release through ElasticStage.
The number of orders through ElasticStage is not very large, but since I started offering records there, I no longer receive messages asking whether I should sell physical merchandise.
In that sense, ElasticStage has already served its purpose for me.

I do not expect large sales from it.
Rather, I see it as a way to make physical media available for those who truly want it, when they want it.

今回は、2026年6月5日リリース予定の EP “Waiting Quietly for the Bloom” の背景について記録します。

減衰系アンビエント

今回は、ピアノやマリンバなどの減衰していく音を、長く伸びるリバーブによってさらにゆっくりと響かせる、「減衰系アンビエント」と呼べるような作品に仕上げました。

アンビエント作品では短いフレーズを繰り返す手法もよく使われますが、今回はそうしたループ的な作り方ではなく、一音一音を電子ピアノで演奏しています。
それぞれの音が立ち上がり、響き、ゆっくりと消えていく過程を大切にしました。

4つのバージョン

この EP では、同じ楽曲をもとに、以下の4つのバージョンを準備しました。

サイン波、マリンバ、ソフトシンセベル、ピアノという異なる音色を使うことで、同じ旋律や構成であっても、響き方や時間の流れ方が少しずつ変わるようにしています。

タイトルについて

“Waiting Quietly for the Bloom” というタイトルには、「時には、じっと待つことも必要だ」という思いを込めています。

何かを急いで咲かせようとするのではなく、静かに待つ。
その時間そのものにも意味があるのではないか、という感覚を作品に重ねました。

アートワークについて

アートワークには、以前の作品 「そのうちいいことあるよ」 で使用した BIM モデルをもとにした画像を使用しています。

今回は、その BIM モデルの壁に “C193B3” という色のマテリアルを設定し、壁の部分だけをアップにしました。
色番号の中に、さりげなく “193” のナンバーを潜ませています。

Bandcamp の価格設定について

Bandcamp での販売価格は 193円 に設定しています。

これは「一休さん」の語呂合わせでもありますが、193円という価格は、高すぎず、安すぎず、私にとってちょうどよい距離感のある金額だと感じています。
気軽に、けれども少しだけ応援してもらう。そのような関係に合った価格だと思っています。

ElasticStage でのレコード販売

ElasticStage でのレコード販売も準備しています。
ElasticStage での注文数はそれほど多くありませんが、レコード販売を用意するようになってから、「物販をすべきでは？」という問い合わせはなくなりました。
その意味では、私にとって ElasticStage は十分に役割を果たしてくれています。

大きな販売数を期待しているというよりも、必要な人が必要なときに物理メディアを選べる状態にしておく。
今はそのくらいの距離感で考えています。
