Recently, the pace of my music releases and score preparation has slowed down a little.
Through this, I have come to feel that making plans based too much on myself when I am in good condition can sometimes create pressure later. I would like to write down my thoughts on this.
Work Other Than Composing Music
Continuing music activities involves more than simply making music in a DAW.There are many small tasks involved, such as registering releases with distribution services, updating my website, writing blog posts about the background of each piece, and preparing or organizing sheet music.
When I am in good condition, these tasks may not feel especially difficult. However, when my work environment or daily rhythm changes, my concentration may not fully recover even on weekends.
At such times, even tasks that would normally feel manageable can become unexpectedly heavy.
Being Careful When Making Plans
When making plans, I sometimes tend to use my best condition as the standard. For example, I may think that I can respond to a score request later, even if the score has not yet been completed.
However, I am not always in good condition.
There are days when my concentration does not return even on the weekend, and all I can do is rest or remain unfocused. Recently, I have been trying to adjust my plans so that they can still continue even when such days happen.
The same applies to my release schedule. These days, I create my own artwork and also prepare jackets and labels for physical releases through ElasticStage, so the amount of work has increased compared with before.
For that reason, I am now planning my releases with a slightly wider interval than I used to.
Using Generative AI and Tools for Support
Recently, I have been trying to organize my workflow as much as possible. When a task seems suitable for scripting, I use generative AI to help create scripts and automate parts of the process.
For transcription-related work, I also use tools such as audio-to-MIDI conversion software as a form of support, in order to simplify the process where possible.
Of course, the final decisions and corrections still need to be made by me, but I hope to reduce the workload little by little by using generative AI and other tools in a practical way.
Sustainable Planning and Continuity
I feel that making realistic plans is important for continuing any activity over the long term.Instead of expanding my activities based only on what I can do when I am in good condition, I want to build a workflow that does not easily break down even when my concentration is low, or when my work or daily environment changes.
I do not see this as reducing my activities, but rather as adjusting them so that I can continue for a long time.
I would like to keep organizing what I can do and continue my music activities in a sustainable way.
