In this post, I would like to write about the background of my piece “The End of the Beach.”
The Ending Theme for Haruka Suenaga’s Beach
This piece was originally written when I was a university student.At that time, I had sent a demo to a record company. Later, they contacted me and asked whether they could use several pieces from the demo for Haruka Suenaga’s first image video, Beach.
This piece was used as the ending theme of the video. At the time, it still had only a temporary title. Later, I gave it the title “The End of the Beach,” referring both to the fact that it was used at the end of Beach and to the image of reaching the edge of a beach.
The Original Production
Back then, I mainly used an MPC2000XL for music production.DAWs were not as stable as they are today, and using them comfortably required a fairly high-spec computer. For that reason, I chose the MPC, which allowed me to work more intuitively.
When remaking this piece, I found that the harp sound I had imported into the MPC at the time was still available, so I loaded it into Kontakt and used it again. I also prepared a Sine Wave Version of the piece.
Strings
In the original version, the violin parts were also played using samples loaded into the MPC. For a long time, I had wanted to replace those parts with real string recordings.For this remake, I asked Nstrings to perform and record the violin and viola parts.
