Marimba Versions is a four-track EP that takes a different path from my usual piano and sine-wave-based releases, focusing instead on the distinctive sound of the marimba.

The idea grew out of the quiet but memorable response to the marimba arrangement of “Blocks.” After I made the sheet music for that piece available, it received more interest than I had expected. That response stayed with me and eventually became the starting point for this EP.

The collection includes “Ninja Induction,” a newly written piece; “Do Not Cross This Bridge,” presented here in a marimba version for the first time; and newly recorded versions of “Blocks” and “193193.”

Rather than treating the marimba simply as an alternative instrument, this EP explores how these pieces change when their melodies, rhythms, and spaces are shaped by its resonant wooden tone. Familiar material takes on a different character, while the new pieces extend that sound into new territory.

What began with the unexpected response to a single marimba score has developed into this small collection of four pieces — a quieter branch of my work, now brought together as one EP.

『Marimba Versions』は、これまでの通常のピアノやsine waveを中心とした作品とは少し異なる方向から、マリンバの響きに焦点を当てた4曲入りのEPです。

この作品のきっかけになったのは、以前制作した「Blocks」のマリンバ・バージョンでした。その楽譜を公開したところ、予想していた以上にひそかな反響があり、その反応が長く印象に残っていました。今回のEPは、そこから生まれた流れをひとつの作品としてまとめたものです。

収録曲は、新曲の「Ninja Induction」、今回初めてマリンバ・バージョンとして制作した「Do Not Cross This Bridge」、そして新たに録音し直した「Blocks」と「193193」の全4曲です。

単に楽器をマリンバに置き換えるのではなく、木質の響きと余韻によって、旋律やリズム、音と音の間の空間がどのように変化するのかを意識して制作しました。既存曲にはこれまでとは異なる表情が生まれ、新曲ではその響きをさらに別の方向へと広げています。

一つのマリンバ譜に寄せられた思いがけない反響から始まった、小さな流れ。その先に生まれた4曲を、一枚のEPとしてまとめました。
